6 FREE Resources Every Designer Needs in 2022
It’s not easy being a designer — we're constantly being crunched for talent, time and resources. Thankfully, we’ve learned a few tricks of the trade over the years and compiled these 6 free resources every designer needs to work efficiently and effectively.
1. Free Stock Photos & Videos - Unsplash, Pexels, Pikwizard, LibreStock & Findaphoto
We've all been there. You need a good stock photo, but don't know where to turn beyond Google Images. Thankfully, there are tons of great websites with what seems like endless high quality stock photos and videos. Some of our favorites include Unsplash, Pexels, Pikwizard and LibreStock.
2. Mockup World / Freepik
Using a good mockup can really help your designs shine (and help your client imagine what it will look like in its final execution). It's not always easy to find great free mockups, but we've found that these two mockup websites have a really nice selection: Mockup World and Freepik.
3. Flaticon
Icons can be a quick, easy, and captivating way to communicate with your audience. Icon creation is a whole realm of design in its own right. So if you're looking to jazz up your design with an icon, or you're looking for a visual way to describe something very specific, we recommend using Flaticon. Their database is incredible!
4. FGD (Free Goodies for Designers)

A one stop shop, Free Goodies for Designers pretty much has it all. From mockups to amazing fonts, you can't miss this design resource!
5. MyFonts / Google Fonts
There are an endless number of fonts out there. To accumulate a substantial library can be costly, but there are also tons of free ones you can find at sites like MyFonts or Google Fonts.
- ProTip 1: Always test out a sample of your text to see if it looks good before downloading or purchasing a font.
- ProTip 2: If you have a picture of a font you like, but don't know the name of the font, MyFonts' "What the Font" feature can help you figure it out!
6. Vision Boards - Pinterest
As visual thinkers, it's important to organize all of these visual inspirations in one place. A classic go-to for creating vision and mood boards is Pinterest.
