Hiring Tips for Busy Business Owners
1. Avoid using Fiverr/UpWork/99designs
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: More likely than not, choosing this option won’t save you any time or money. By working with non-professionals, you risk getting sloppy work that’ll leave you back in square 1.
2. Try Facebook Groups
Facebook communities are full of passionate people who are ready to help! You obviously have to be selective, but I recommend asking the community who they’ve worked with before, and trust to get the job done. You’re talking with real people. It seems more reliable than the ratings on fiverr, which could be boosted by bots. Also you can ask them for more specific feedback. For example: '“I’m looking to hire a designer, what programs aside from Photoshop should they know?” or ask about what budget to propose, ask for people from a specific location, you get the idea.
Here are some of the communities I use: Dreamers & Doers, We Are Women Owned, Freelancing Females, Copywriting Hacks, Agency Growth Hacks, Production Freelancers - Producers, Coordinators, PA's
3. Try other online communities
Same idea, but these online communities go beyond Facebook so don’t let that restrict you. I for one LOVE searching for talent in Girlboss Collectives, Working Not Working or on my Wework app.
4. Check your LinkedIn Network
A classic, but a good one is to search on LinkedIn. Go to My Network > Connections > then “search with filters” to browse by location, company, industry, and more!
